In another post, I mentioned that a visit to the Yunqi Bamboo Lined Path can be combined with a visit to the Six Harmonies Pagoda, also known as the Liuhe Pagoda.
The octagonal structure is located on Yuelun Mountain and is considered one of Hangzhou’s three most famous pagodas. The original structure was built during the reign of Wuyue and was intended to calm the river’s floods thanks to the Buddhist six harmonies. According to some research, it later also served as a watchtower.
It stands 59.89 meters tall, and its ideal location offers the best view of the Qiantang River. It has 13 stories, with a bell in each corner. In fact, 7 stories are open to the public, with a spiral staircase leading up to the top level. The view from the top is truly breathtaking!
In the garden behind the building, you can see more than 100 scale models of ancient pagodas, each built at a 1:10 scale.
